Re: Calling Stern/NYU Applicants [#permalink]
I made a collage of important events, things, etc. in my life, on the back of the collage I put pictures of myself. Then I took it to Kinko's and made a two-sided puzzle out of it. Basically all the events, my favorite things, etc. are pieces of the puzzle that make up who I am.

(At least that was what I was going for  )

2.39am here in Brussels, nightmare to get that application on time. I realized around midnight that my 3rd essay, a word doc with pics, was too large! I tried EVERYTHING, nothing worked. Thank God I had sort of prepared an "alternative" essay - which took me about 2h to update.

PS: is it just me, or 500k limit is way to small for a "creative" essay?

PPS: how come a word document containing only 3 images of 120k each gives me a word doc of 3.3megas?? I was going nuts.

Last year every essay was 500 words. I can only think that the Adcom wanted to send a message of how people should deliver information. So you kind of had a grace of 250 words on each essay, and I guess they still tried to force it to the creative activity (I firmly believe they do that, but have no supporting evidence).

Sorry I vanished through R2 anyone who has emailed - the deadline was bang in the middle of all the second round internship i/views for me, and I really couldn't make the time.

Sorry to hear that gz2nyc, its heartening to see how positively you are viewing this and bouncing back next year (you mean fall 09 I presume). If I get admitted to NYU, I'd be willing to share my essays with you. Best wishes.

No interview. Just an email stating my application has been updated. That was a big hint right there.

I only applied to Stern and Cornell, and I'm not counting on my chances on R3 with Cornell. I know about the surge in number of applications this year, and I know where my profile ranks among the applicants. But no matter how much I have curbed my optimism over the past weeks, nothing, nothing, prepared me for the dejection I felt reading the rejection letter.

Not all is lost. I will apply what I've learned and have a headstart for Fall '08.

Best of luck to all of you still waiting.

Ok I was a bit bored so I decided to create something more comprehensive for Stern (all other schools seem to have one).
We're finally into double figures for R2 !! go Stern. Still no reported admits. Please let me know if I've missed any R1 decision results or applicants (or add to this list directly).

Indeed I have. Maybe I'm chicken sh*t, maybe it's the most prudent move? I'm not 100% sure. But after a long thought process, I've come to conclude that the Langone Program is probably the best fit for me. The reasons are long and varied, but it will ensure that I can still graduate in two years, keep my current job (which I actually like <-- and that is rare), increase my chance of starting in fall 08 etc etc. The list goes on and on.

But honestly, my ding w/o interview from Cornell was a bit of a wake-up call. So, sorry to let all you folks down, but I'll be attempting for the Stern PT program.

I'll tell you one thing for sure, during this entire gmat/bschool process, I've changed my mind a little more than a million times.

Good luck to you all.

It certainly might be a prudent move kid. I've been playing around with the same thoughts; not for Langone though ... Not that I've given up all hope on
my full time apps, it is bleak, but it is there. But I HAVE to start this year, and I'm comfortable (!=happy) at my current job. So, I'm gearing for a couple
part time apps., now that I'm done with all my ft apps ...

kidderek, I think this is a fascinating move, a true evolution in your MBA process. I'd encourage you to post more details for the benefit of others, to show that sometimes just getting an admit is not the be all and end all of all things MBA, and how the thought process evolves during the lifecycle of the application process.

river - I will definitely be at DAK!

bsd - I'm not sure my Essay #3 was the most creative (in fact, I'm sure it wasn't). I can tell you that I just wrote an essay and I included the points about my personality that I was able to work into other school applications, but not Stern. These were things that made me seem more human than just numbers on a piece of paper. I'll try to write a little bit more when I get home tonight so I can actually take a look back at my essay. Also, ever since the latest GMATClub update, the webpage never loads correctly on my work computer and it makes everything really difficult to read. I'll log in at home later!
