All of the statements, if true, provide support for the claim above except:

a] Employee owned companies generally have higher productivity.
b] Employee participation in management raises morale.
c] Employee union ownership drives up salaries and wages.
d] Employee union ownership enables workers to share in the profits.
e] Employee union ownership makes it easier to lay off redundant workers.

Please explain. :-D

Except question: Let’s rephrase it:
Following does not provide support for the claim above:

Conclusion: Employee ownership can save depressed and losing companies. The answer to this question indicates choice that deals with other than employee ownership:

a] Employee owned companies generally have higher productivity. (Positive outcome of employee ownership – eliminate it)

b] Employee participation in management raises morale. (Definitely this is to do with the employee participation – nothing related to employee ownership – eliminate it)

c] Employee union ownership drives up salaries and wages. (Positive outcome of employee ownership – eliminate it)
d] Employee union ownership enables workers to share in the profits. (Positive outcome of employee ownership – eliminate it)

e] Employee union ownership makes it easier to lay off redundant workers. (Positive outcome of employee ownership – eliminate it)

Also C

The movement to ownership by unions is the latest step in the progression from management ownership to employee ownership. Employee ownership can save depressed and losing companies.

All of the statements, if true, provide support for the claim above except:

a] Employee owned companies generally have higher productivity. - good for company
b] Employee participation in management raises morale. - good for company: more morale leads to more productivity. At least it is not bad.
c] Employee union ownership drives up salaries and wages. - bad for company: costs increase and profits decrease.
d] Employee union ownership enables workers to share in the profits. - good for company because workers are interested in good company.
e] Employee union ownership makes it easier to lay off redundant workers. - good for company

Re: The movement to ownership by unions is the latest step in [#permalink]
For some reason I opted for B, thinking that it has the words 'employee participation' instead of 'employee ownership'.
I was thinking participation is a part of 'management ownership' companies also.
