I have attended an info session, but not sat in on a class. Adcom said that only admitted and/or interviewed students can do so in the spring (prospective students can sit in on classes in the fall). With that in mind, yes I could go to another info session. Yes, I could meet within a couple of the 2Y students I have been in touch with. I agree $1k isn't much in the scheme of things, but in terms of what I'll be able to do, face/time, etc., I think I'll get more return on 1000 Lotto Scratchers. Not trying to by cynical, just a little more realistic at this point.

Stern is probably playing some form of a numbers game with the WL - I can't remember, but I don't think anyone gets a result other than Yes or No from the interview. Therefore they WL people before the I/V rather than after, as they don't admit without an interview.

If you are international, by all they say and do you are running into a difficult ground for getting here in time for school (mid april will probably be the latest it could work out and be feasible). Getting your financial information in order is the little you can do to speed this process.

I have no idea when the time deadlines they have on commitments is this year. I do know they had a higher yield than expected, and maybe even wanted, last year. That leads me to think that maybe they are playing a little more careful, especially if the upswing in applications is true.

Sadly the information regards classes etc is true, and if you had to interview you would have to make the trip to campus. I think the letter is the most sensible option to follow right now.

Ok just had my interview with Stern today. Stern has totally WOWED me today. Its like a hidden gem in the middle of NYC. Attended Damodarans class - he's pretty amazing too. Interviewing was in full force, there were at least 6 others interviewing today. I, and the others, were interviewed by actual ad-com (and not students).

It was slightly formal and not fully informal as I'd hoped. Plus a total lack of any sleep the night before (another post on that another day), meant that I had to choose my words carefully and slow down my usual superfast ramblings, which was probably a good thing. She had my creative essay open and asked several questions from its contents.

Questions were stock standard with customisations to my essays (Obviously not a blind interview):
- Tell me what you've learnt from your diverse and several WEs
- Tell me about a time youv'e lead a team
- What apprehensions would a company hiring you for S&T / finance have ? How would you convince them of your worth ?
- Have you applied to any other schools ? (whoopsie ...)
- What will you do outside of academics ?
- You work as an independent consultant - how do you secure future work ?

Is it safe to assume if I haven't heard from NYU yet, my ding is just waiting to be sent out? Some of you guys already got your ding. I'd rather get it now than be strung along.

i second that.

although, i think nyu releases invites on a more rolling basis rather than all at once. so don't give up yet!! April first is the day to give up.

Hold tight, applicants. I got an interview invite last year around this time, or later. I interviewed the last week of March, and all was fine.

I think I am scheduled to lunch with people well into April and beyond (though that includes R3) - there is every possibility with application volume they may not have had a full chance to review all the applicants yet.

Any idea when Stern starts looking at waitlist(esp. w/o intervew..:D ) candidates? I heard that it would sometime during March. Just wondering if you know a date.

Boy, your post scared the hell out of me.. I thought it was for R1 WL candidates.

I very much doubt they will tell me. Admissions tow a good party line. I guess it will be the same as anywhere "better to apply early, outstanding candidates will always be considered no matter the round..."

Hey Everybody,

I didn't want post in here after my Cornell Ding and Yale WL (sorry, after many years of baseball I occasionally have weird superstitions!) but was just accepted today.

Here is a bit of my profile:

Age: 24
GMAT: 690
Undergard: 3.66, first year was 2.7, transferred and last three years was 3.91. Not a well-known school...
WE: 1 year of IT (Sys Admin, also worked in Business Development), 1 year of Management Consulting

Tip for NYU: Show enthusiasm! I connected with as many alumni and current students as I could without being annoying. Even though I don't have the most stellar profile, I feel I was able to get in because I was able to show why NYU was the best fit. For example, I visited twice before hearing about acceptance, and kept in touch with every person I met there.

Good luck to everyone, and I hope to see some of you this Fall!
