So here I am floored by the GMAT. (640, Q44, V36)... don't know wht to say ... it is more than 2 years of preparation.. and my 3rd attempt...
1st attempt : dec 2006 580 (Q44, V28)
2nd : Dec 2007 670 (Q45 , v 35)
3rd March 2008 : 640 (Q44, v 36)

After my 2nd attempt I got encouraged that I just needed to pump up my verbal and i will b bang on target ..but it seems like i was destined to be doomed on both .. I spruced up my SC and RC's.. and I was quite successful at that .. but I am sure there were lot of chinks in my Armour that GMAT exposed ..

I really don't know what way I am headed towards .. I have seriously run out of gas and no more want to touch the GMAT books again .. i sacrificed everything for this f***ing thing ... my family time, friends, office productivity and not to mention the money.. and at the end i sit here with my screwed a**.... Going for an MBA has been a long time dream for me and now I see it no way getting fulfilled .. hence i m not peace even now .. I am not sure even if I take 4th attempt, how would adcoms will take it as .... is the score of 670 in my second attempt competative enough ..??? i was planning to apply at warwick, cranfield, cass and IMD.. in UK and switzerland.. i hv 6 yrs of exp.. looking forward to some advice... I feel totally devastated ..

I think a 670 is a respectable score at any school, especially so at some of your target schools. I say you forget about the GMAT, buckle down, and write the best damn essays in world history.

Ummm - Relax. A 670 is plenty good enough to get you into those schools. Just bust a!s on your essays, show the schools how interested you in their programs, highlight your extracurricular, get some stellar recs and you'll be fine.

670 is a decent score and really if you can now focus on writing some great essays that's the battle won right there. I have attended several admission sessions and seen them really focus on essays. The diff between getting into 700+ versus a 670 is not that big a difference.

no hope is lost at all...remember the GMAT is only a part of it. a 670 is pretty good and your application will not be ignored. what counts now is how good your essays are and how well you fill out your application. put your heart and soul into the application like you did with the gmat. forget about the GMAT...don't bother with it anymore.

it's not just the score that counts...if you write really good essays and focus on extra curriculars, etc....im sure you'll have a good chance. don't let the GMAT bring you down. give the application everything you've got.

I don't think a 670 is a poor score! You have to realize that the gmat is only a piece of the picture. I think you will need to really focus on your essays and also on your story about your pursuit for an mba.

Don't under-sell your qualities. you need to stay upbeat and optimistic.

670 is not bad at all. i think positive_soul took it 4 or 5 times, scored a 420 until he finally scored 700 and is at Wharton now...
