Uh, you guys sure MIT just hasn't gotten around to taking this past year's essay page down? These are exactly the same questions I answered last October. And look at this note under the "self-reported transcripts" heading:

"LFM does not accept self-reported transcripts. LFM applicants should instead mail transcripts by December 17, 2007"

As far as I know, HBS is the only top school that has released their application so far. I wouldn't expect others to be released before June at the earliest (more likely July).

good catch - I thought these were for this year because they linked out to the new dates for R1, R2 admission. I could be wrong - will remove the essays until we know for sure!
thanks!

when are you planning on visiting? I called yesterday to ask when their "Sloan on the Road" type events start - turns out not until mid-July! The Admissions lady I spoke with also advised that I save my money and wait until classes start in the fall to visit - apparently if you go during summer, there may or may not be students/adcom members to speak with...

id suggest going to a sloan ambassadors event in the fall where you talk to the adcom and students, then they take you to a class

Unfortunately MIT's essays change a lot unlike some other schools so you really cant get a head start. Definitely keep an eye on their events page, like most schools they start having them in Sept.

I'm glad to hear that. I thought last year's looked tough.

Oh, and I'm probably in for R1. GLTA.

It's not a joint program, but I'm considering the E&I track.

rca215,
LFM is in deed a joint degree program (awards an SM and MBA), offered jointly by Sloan and the School of Engineering. This is what the LFM program's FAQ page states:

All LFM graduates earn two degrees:

A Master of Science degree (sometimes referred to at MIT as an SM) in an engineering field in one of the participating departments in the School of Engineering, and
An MBA or a Master of Science in Management from MIT Sloan.
The primary difference between the MBA and Master of Science is that the science degree requires a thesis. Since all LFM students complete a thesis as part of their program, LFM graduates may choose either the MBA or the Master of Science degree.

and by the way, what is that E & I track? Is this some sorta of B-school lingo that one should become familiar with? I am yet to get used to these B-school lingos and any insight into this will help folks like myself. Thanks.

E&I refers to the Entrepreneurship and Innovation program at MIT Sloan.

I was referring to the E&I program when I said it's not a joint degree program. E&I means entrepreneurship and innovation...it's a sort of like another major or focus area offered by Sloan for people interested in entrepreneurship. E&I is not, as far as I'm aware, a term used by other business schools.
