Great. Thanks river. I assume the CPS isn't going to change much and I can have my recommender start working on it.

If Kellogg allows the recommender to print out the form and type in their responses, it looks like they aren't looking for paragraphs from the recommender. There's only space for 3-4 sentences on the CPS form.

Its probably a safe bet that the form wont change much...their essays didnt change much so I would say the CPS will also remain the same.

From what I remember, they do it online so there is more room than on the CPS form. You have to provide them with an email for your recommenders.

I'm aiming for R1 as well (I hope!). Time to get cracking!

What tools have you guys found most helpful for staying organized with the applications? I'm going for the big desk calendar with weekly deadlines.

I'm quoting myself here, I guess afterall, I don't have a problem with a cutesy screen name on here.

At any rate, I've got my calendar and I'm plugging away. Am I reading the deadlines at Kellogg correctly? If you are doing an on campus interview, both part one and part two of round one are due on Oct 17th?

You will want to get PT 1 done and out of the way ahead of time. Its not very challenging and one less thing to worry about.

Part one cannot be completed until they put the application online, correct?

Yes it will be online. I will see if I can dig up my files in the next few days that have what part 1 and 2 had on it last year. I may have shredded all that stuff though. Part 1 has a part where you put your job description, not necessarily a resume since you also submit a resume but what your position typically entails. I know I got my job description from my employer and made that fit.

Can you schedule an interview once you submit Part 1 but before Part 2? Can you actually interview before Part 2 has been submitted?

Yes, you can schedule an interview right after you submit Part I. You can actually interview before Part 2 has been submitted.

check your status every week after you submit Part I and scheduled an interview. Sometimes you'll get an interview invite but it won't come through your email. I submitted my Part I end of October, 2007, and got an invite 11/5/2007, which I didn't see until end of December, 2007. I interviewed a few days before Part II was due.

Does it make any difference whether one interviews on campus or off at Kellogg? I have heard a couple things:

-On-campus interviews are more predictable (alumni can be moody, biased, etc)
-Off-campus interviews are OK if you have already visited the school

I don't think it makes much of a difference, especially if you have already visited the campus. But even if you haven't, the school recognizes that financial constraints limit all applicants from visiting.

For the record, I interviewed with an alum

I asked about that when I was at Kellogg last week - the adcom said that if you're "within reasonable driving distance" of the campus, she recommends doing an on campus interview. If you have to fly in, she recommended "using your judgement".
cheers,
ac.
