A controversial study suggests that the violent behavior displayed by some teenagers who play several hours of video games a day is due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain rather than the absorption of any specifically violent content.

a) is due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain
b) are due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain
C) is due to damage to the developmental frontal lobe region of the brain
D) are due to developmental damages to the brain’s frontal lobe
E) is due to developmental damages to the brain’s frontal lobe region

It's obvious to eliminate b) and d) by Subject-V agreement (singular and phural).
To determine the correct answer from a&c&e) is difficult. Pls help explain

B and D out
Between A C E
C is out damage to dev sounds awkward
E is out since we are using damages to the brain is incorrect
correct idiom is damage to !!! developmental is adverb here .

hence clearly A remains !!

As said above, B and D do not need to explain.
C is also wrong to have ".........to damage to the developmental.............."

A & E are both, I believe, gramatically correct. Even C is also not really incorrect. In this case, keep the original answer. Why? If the answer choices are not obviously incorrect, then keep the original one. Thats what I read somewhere in the forum.

Therefore A.

This question needs polishing.

Correct answer should be: "is due to THE developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain"

"...the violent behavior ... is due to THE developmental damage to the frontal lobe ... rather than THE absorption of any specifically violent content."

Parallelism.

Yes,that's what I thought too.
Actually, if you really break the underlined fragment using Fundamental Grammar,
the parallelism between Reason A(developmental damage...) and Reason B(THE absorption...) is incorrect.
That was the sole reason I had forcefully choose Option E over Option A.
Hope someone clarifies this as these small things really affect one's choices.
