terry,
as much as I am conforted by your point (and I still hope in an invite), I keep wondering whether:
1) they really read the applications in a staggered fashion (i.e. a number of them have not been read by now)
2) if not (i.e. they have read all the apps as of now) why they time invites this way.
It's the complete opposite of HBS, which has many more apps to read btw.
As I understand it (and let me emphasize that I'm not on the adcom), applications really are read in random order. Remember, Stanford's adcom is much smaller than HBS's, so it takes a while to read all the applications. Stanford has intentionally kept its admission committee staff small in order to maintain a personal touch. It's incredible... when you show up at an admit event, Admit Weekend, or for the start of classes, it's stunning how much Derrick already knows (and remembers) about you.
FYI, I think Sandy has compared the exact size of each adcom on the BW forum before, but I can't refer you to an exact thread since I haven't been on BW in a long time.
