Yes, where DID that come from? I just looked at my bunch of "four star" LSAT inference questions, and every one is far clearer than this one is.

I choose D, but only by process of elimination. A, B and C are clearly outside the scope of the information in the stimulus. As for E, the stimulus states that the subconscious consists of the "unsymbolized", but this does not prove that fears and frustrations are the ONLY things that can be "unsymbolized". So D is the only one left, but I don't see how the stimulus gets us there. I personally consider "unsymbolized" and "nameless" to be synonymous, which gets us there -- but that is an outside assumption, which is not given in the stimulus.

D is strong with the use of "cannot". Argument only suggests "fears and frustrations that defy analysis". It does not say, analysis cannot be made.

E is again strong with the use of "only".
