Congrats on Wharton!

I have seen many candidate "withdrawing" their applications. I've not really understood the concept? Haven't you already paid for application/spent too many hours on the essays? So why withdraw..

Shed some light, please.

Im not indian, white as Wonder bread. But I was curious what "desi" meant so I came over to check it out.

As to the questions of withdrawing applications. If you get into your dream school and there isn't any amount of money that could pull you away from that decision, then out of general curtesy for the adcom staffs and applicants at other schools, you should withdraw your application. It lets the adcoms move on to another application, and opens a spot for someone else who dream school might be the very one you are withdrawing your application from.

"Desi" means "country" in Hindi (I share your Wonder Bread complexion).

congrats SV6, abhyudaya and sterny...

For those on W/L, see the brighter side of the status...

For those dinged, here is my story... You can certainly find some consolation from it...

This all happened in last 2 months..

Dinged at Duke. Wify had an accident in next 2 days. Car was totaled. Wify treated for some injuries. Had to look for a used car (didn't want another loan on new..), missed a deadline, have been asked to work throughout the holidays, dinged at Tepper, Wify had another accident (not her fault this time), had to handle insurance claims, towing, repairs...

I am 30 and need to get into school soon... getting old :)

btw, of those dinged, did anyone try to find out the reasons? I see many profiles here who have strong profiles for the schools they applied, yet got dinged... Can anyone think of any reasons?

aakashganga,

Really sorry to hear about your wife's recent accidents. I hope she recovers soon and I hope that you get your admit in the next few months.

As you all must have read, I got dinged at Tuck, Tepper and Duke in a span of 2 days. My hopes crashed in a really short time. I called up Tuck and Duke today for feedback. Tuck admission representative was really nice as always is the case. She said they do offer feedback, but not immediately. I should be sending an email requesting for it and they would reply to me only after spring. I think by Spring she meant when all the admission rounds were done. I am planning to send that email soon. Duke admissions rep said that they do not offer any feedback. I tried calling Tepper too, but their phone line was busy continuously. I hope it was busy bcos they were offering feedback to other applicants like me. :)
