I had my interview with Kellee Scott on 27th Jan. I had applied for Round 1 (Dec 1). Interview went pretty well with the standard set of questions.

Wow, R1 interviews are still going on? And this is the school that starts the school year in August....
Topa, could you give some more details on the interview?

Well.. the interview lasted for about 40 minutes and was held in a cafe in Bangalore. So it was pretty easy going.

The questions asked were pretty standard:

- Resume Walkthrough
- Why MBA ? Why Now ? and Why USC ?
- Challenging Work Experience
- Leadership Roles
- Extracurricular activities

Hope that helps..

guys,

I'm trying to find the list of full-time employers of Marshall MBAs in 2008, but not been able to find it on the website. The only list I came across was the list of top employers,

https://www.marshall.usc.edu/mbaadmissio ... erview.htm

If you are able to locate to complete list of employers, can you please post it here?

I've attached the 2008-2009 report.

I'm curious as to why there would be no scenario you would choose USC over UCSD. Especially considering you applied through the consortium and could maybe get a full fellowship. I'm seriously considering moving to southern California with my fiancee and most of research pointed me towards USC. I wanted to make sure I'm getting the whole picture. Thanks!

Hey gixxer, a lot of it is just my personal preference. After visiting UCSD and talking with the people there, it just seems like a much better launching pad for what I want to do (nonprofit & entrepreneurship). The USC location was one major draw for me, but UCSD pretty much trumps USC there too. USC is a great school though, and if you're in SoCal, USC and UCLA are definitely the big two.

USC is actually a top school for entrepreneurship (one of the best) and is well above UCSD in terms of reputation nationwide and in CA specifically. If it's not to late I would seriously reconsider withdrawing my app.

Good luck to anyone applying to USC! I'm an undergrad alum of Marshall and had a great four years on-campus -- so if anyone has any questions about the campus or school in general, feel free to ask.

Fight on! 8-)

I'm interested to know about this as well. Do most schools do the verification only after acceptance release or per-acceptance? either way, I wanted to give my previous employers a heads up... given especially with all the turnovers in the past few years at the firms that I've been at.

hey rjacobs,

whats a good, polite way to withdraw your candidacy? Im going to do the same and I dont want to take up a spot and just let the deposit date go by. Did you email your interviewer? Call the office?

thanks.

AZN,
Were in the sameee boat.
Both from Southern California
Both accepted from TEPPER and SC

What is making you chose Tepper over SC?

hey eeter,

nice to see you on this thread... for one thing, I want to do MC after graduation. With the market the way it is and competition for MC growing stronger by the minute, I believe that Tepper has the stronger brand amongst the M/B/B. I am also still considering finance, according to my cousin, who's an MD at Citigroup, because of Tepper's quant focus, they are pretty highly regarded in the finance circle eventhough its not a top10 school. Another reason is USC is such a commuter school, I dont think you can really network (for me at least) if I always wanted to go home at 5pm. Oh yeah, and as an Asian guy living in LA, too many of my friends went to SC and I just cant stand their cockiness when the Trojans win football game! :)

Other reasons:
Tepper gave me 12k
Jame Frick on the Admissions team is a pleasure to deal with

For USC:
the girls!!!!!
Kelley from Admissons is also a pleasure to deal with
the weather! ( I was in Pitt for my interview in October and it was 30 degrees)

What are your plans? You set on going to Tepper yet? Im still waiting to get off 2 waitlists

Azn very nicely defined goals. I personally have a dream to go into ibanking I know I have no shot at a top 10 so Tepper will help me attain this through its QUANT focus like you mentioned and USC really will not. I am leaning towards Tepper, although not as known as USC it has a very great program and yes the admissions teams is very great to deal with. I was waitlisted at UCLA and Kellogg if I get in my option changes but until now I am waiting for the USC packet based on employer and job positioning through that I will determine my choices.

In either case if we both do wind up and decide on Tepper, we should definately meet up it gives a little closure before going to a completely new city. And ill definately back you up there anything you need us californians have to stick toghether.

Let me know how the wait list goes I wish you good luck bro~

Just received an on-campus interview invitation today for late March. I'm under the assumption an on campus interviews are considered better than an alum/phone interview; anyone know if its safe to assume that in this case?

Got accepted into Marshall as a R1 applicant...any others out there considering the school? The administration & students have all been helpful & enthusiastic & it seems like a vibrant student community...just trying to convince myself on the power of the SC network, since I have little to no intention of leaving SoCal after graduation.
