I applied through the consortium and got an email saying my status has been updated - HOWEVER - when I log into the site it was never completed so I can't find my status at all so I have no idea if I'm in or not.

Very lame. I just put in Consortium applicant into the blank spaces so I could get through the application and submit it - then when it finally went through to submitted it says no update. Called admissions office and of course they are out for the weekend so I guess I'll have to wait some more.

Congrats to all those just offerred admission. I got an interview invite yesterday. From the looks of the 'Schedule an Interview' page there are 2-3 open spots every day Tue-Thur through April 9th. Good luck to those still waiting.

Any pointers on tackling the interview? Is is strictly 30 minutes long. My previous interviews (Kellogg, Darden and ND) have always gone overtime to about 45-50 minutes - do interview slots at Yale allow for this kind of leeway? Thanks!

Congrats on the invite! My interview went for about 45 minutes but my interview said this was very unusual. She said they are almost always 30 minutes and she also said that Yale interview are very easy. Prepare your answers to the typical MBA interview questions and you will be fine....no curveballs.

Congrats on the interview. Mine was right around 30 minutes, maybe a few minutes longer. I got this link in an SOM newsletter earlier in the week that might give you some insight on what they look for in the interviews.

Hey ninkorn, am I reading right that SOM students are all given a laptop for school (which is presumably taken back at the end of the program)? That's pretty cool...saves a few bucks.

Free laptop?
:?: :?: :?: :?:

Are you talking about this?

https://it.som.yale.edu/index.php/Laptop ... se_Program

I am not sure if this means free laptop since it says "Laptop Purchase Program."

Nevertheless, I already bought me a Vaio TT.

I don't like heavy laptops.

Yeah that site is unclear. From the admitted students page they have this (without any mention of laptop "purchase"):

Laptops play an integral role in the Yale MBA curriculum. All Yale SOM students receive a standard- issue laptop computer upon arrival at Orientation.

Also, did you see this map some student posted about where it's "safe" to live in New Haven? He says to stay within the blue lines. While I intend to live within the lines just for proximity to campus, I sure hope he's being super-cautious. It would be pretty ridiculous if it's considered "unsafe" outside of that region. That's like 1 square mile.

I guess we will find out soon enough. They will probably send us more info once we send in our deposits. (speaking of which, I should do that + file taxes + FAFSA)

I can't see the Google Doc. Can you turn it into PDF or upload it here as text file?

Also, I found this in the Yale SOM forum.

https://som-talks.som.yale.edu/forums/sh ... .php?p=613

There is a discrepancy between the info there and other Yale IT support sites. I guess the info might be outdated. The forum says DELL laptop while the IT site has numbers for Lenovo. I guess, they switched to Lenovo?

Also, according to Yale SOM website:
Quote:
All students are required to own a laptop computer. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who need to borrow funds to purchase a laptop or upgrade existing equipment to meet the required specifications may be eligible for a one-time budget adjustment of up to $2,000 in the first year.

I am pretty sure its like every other school. You can either buy from school or buy your own.
