3.
Not sure whether in Real GMAT you can use comparative ("broader") adjective in this way, unless of course there is a clear comparison.

IMO E.

3. agree with botirvoy.
Does GMAT entertain twisted modifiers? I mean "broader pollination crisis" could be better written as "crisis in broader pollination".

Here is the OA and Explanation: Now that the OA and explanation are posted, can you rate this question in terms of difficulty?
Let's keep the 1-5 scale with 1 being easy and 5 hard.

Answer: E

2. It is important to note the difference between crisis and crises. ‘Crisis’ is singular and ‘crises’ is plural. Hence the verb should agree with the subject in both number and gender. Also, the part of the sentence that isn’t underlined suggests the form the adjective ‘broad’ should take.

A - The word ‘being’ is usually incorrect.
B – The expletive construction does not agree with crises.
C - The expletive construction does not agree with crisis.
D – The word ‘broad’ does not take on a parallel construction.
E – This is the correct answer

D has additional problem - it distorts original sense: crises instead of crisis.

Although the idea of there being a broad pollination crisis under way is entrenched, the true picture remains cloudier.
