Re: Post-Admission Process [#permalink]
Usually Kroll occurs relatively early in the process (i.e. soon after deposit payment). From what I understand Kroll has a self initiated component to it and there is a deadline to initiate the Kroll process and the onus is on you as the admit to get it done before the Kroll deadline.

what about from the school's side?
Do they 'Kroll' you right after your deposit? or do they 'Kroll' everybody after all the deposits deadline (meaning: after all application rounds/decision ends)?

Re: Post-Admission Process [#permalink]
I am sorry. But what is 'Kroll' ? Is it specific to a school

Kroll is a company that does the background check on applicants for a lot of the top schools.
Schools just want to make sure that you are who you said you are.

Thanks for the infos. I also was not aware that they 'Kroll' you. Out of curiosity - what do they scan for? If you graduated from the university? If you had the jobs you pretended? How do they do this? Seems to be a kind of Sherlock-Holmes thing ;)

Yeah they just call people up. For instance your company (and past employers) will have and HR department which will keep your records. Your university will have a registrar who will also keep records. Its easier than most people think. Also they will have your address and they can easily call the local police station to see whether there are any criminal convictions (or ask for a basic police check)

Re: Post-Admission Process [#permalink]
What would be helpful to post is the following info from those who have got admits.

School Name
When did they get their acceptance notice ?
How many days did they have to take the offer ?
Deposit if any that had to be paid when you accept the offer and the time given for that.

It's going to vary a bit by school and round of application. I can't speak for the non-US schools, but in the US: some schools gave 6 weeks prior to asking for the first deposit, others gave 12 weeks. I'd suggest identifying the schools you'd like to attend/apply to, then seeing their websites for the various dates. Usually under the "Deadlines" portions of the websites, they'll identify decision notification date as well as deposit due dates.
