Re: Anyone Travel Long Distance to Chicago Booth for PT? [#permalink]
I studied the Chicago school economists in college and have always admired their work, especially the behavioral economic work of Gary Becker.

So studying in that environment is appealing to me. However, Stern definitely would be a better fit for me. I have ruled out Booth......

I believe Manbilla is doing Booth weekend PT MBA starting this Fall. He is driving from Iowa to Chicago, I think.....

Nink as you know...Finance is my game, and PT is more suitable to my life now...so Stern is the best fit for me.

Jumping on an airplane Friday night, staying in a hotel, and flying back to NYC, on my tab, seems like it would not be worth the extra costs.....

I plan on doing this from the twin cities later this year. while navy makes a couple of excellent points, in the end it's a personal decision. if it works for you, then hey...
still, check out stern, that may be an easier solution in the long run...

As you say that you are going to be in Twin Cities. Yes, you can commute to Chicago. It is 7 hours drive or 1Hour and 20 minutes flight. Southwest flies daily to Midway airport from Twin Cities. I am not going to Booth but have a very close friend doing this. Honestly it is tough and a very big challenge but if you have perseverence and love MBA you can do it.

I would have no issue with 7 hour commute, if it was via train or someone else driving, so I could do reading, assignments, etc....other than that situation, I would have a hard time dealing.

I am still exploring / comparing programs but will most likely need to commute as well. Thank you for posting this question as Chicago is a program I am evaluating. I am located in Arkansas so I understand the need to commute for Top Tier programs.
