Hi-
I just signed up for the Chicago interview on 11/13 but I was wondering if I should have signed up to have it here in the Seattle area. I am still able to cancel the interview in Chicago and reschedule it so I do it here. Does it make a difference where it is held? Or does it give me a leg up if I go to Chicago to do the interview? Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks!

To the extent possible, I recommend on-campus interviews. As Hjort said, it demonstrates interest and means you have seen the school. Furthermore, if are wait-listed, you will have material to use in your wait-list letter based on your visit and if accepted to multiple schools you will have a better idea which school's offer to accept. Finally, if you go to Chicago, there is a possibility that you will interview with an admissions staff member. If you do well, that can be very helpful, because you will have interviewed with a decision maker and influencer. If you don't do so well, .... But let's not go there.
Good luck!
