Count me in for R1.

I've scheduled a visit for the end of the month - I'll be sitting in on "Strategy" with Melissa Schilling. Any tips from students to make the visit a productive one? I'm scheduled for the class and the 3pm coffee break, and will take a tour too.

Maybe go up to Admissions when you have a moment and speak with the Graduate Ambassadors with any questions you have. Coffee is mostly first years, they are second years so offer a different perspective and are there for that reason.

Email clubs that you are interested in - you may well be able to catch up with people from them while there to learn more (and build your essays - same for the Ambassadors).

That would be my class if it's at 9a on Monday.

It's this coming Monday, but the class is scheduled at 1:15pm. Did I pick a good one? :)

Given the evidence...

Strategy is an interesting class, and doesn't really rely on much conceptual prep (dropping in on one class should stand alone and make sense).

Quick question for other NYU Applicants - for the downloaded "Work History Form" - are you putting in ALL work experience, as the prompt seems to specify, or just all relevant, post-graduate experience, as most other schools seem to be looking for?

Thanks,

The Admissions Office recommends putting in only your post-graduate experience on the Work History form, but if there is other work experience that you feel may add value to your overall application, feel free to put it on there. I did so too last year.

I've heard good things about Prof.Okun as well.

Just working on Essay 1 for Stern. Though they don't specifically ask for why Stern in the question set, should I spend time on it? After writing 600 word goals essays 750 suddenly seems like a lot of space.

Bump for the same question. Feels like essay 2 is ALL why NYU so it might be redundant to repeat it here.

Except after working w/ 100 word essays, I feel cramped with 750 :-D

Essay 2 is only 500 words and you need to answer what you did to learn about the school and how you'll specifically get involved too, so there isn't a ton of room to expand on everything you like about the program. I'm still trying to decide how best to split things up, but I want to mention some Stern specifics in each. I might focus more on extracurriculars and community involvement in Essay 2, and focus more on the strength of their finance curriculum and location, etc will help my career in Essay 1.

Hi,

I'm in for R2 please ....

Attending a class on "Financial Accounting and Reporting" by Prof. Gode on 11/16. How's the class supposed to be ? Also have the coffee break scheduled, and the Information Session at 4.

How particular is NYU about the "only 1 class visit" policy ?

Thanks.

Risky. IMM maybe goes OK as they talk about it on the website, and I know all the people in Admissions will be familiar. Problem could be that using acronyms is really bad form and annoys everyone the world over for its lack of clarity. I am certain that cutting a three word thing to one acronym is not the best way to be editing your essay.

Leave it alone and come back to it in a week perhaps (I know, Nov 15 is pretty near).
