Any R1 applicants

Does the Booth application system update you when a recommender submits the rec?

The challenge is also to write something that I've not mentioned in Essay 1. While my reasons for pursuing MBA have changed a bit, I cannot skip my reasons in Essay 1 and only write in Essay 2. Let's discuss what you are facing.

After a week-long depression that has taken a toll on my R2 Anderson application, I finally get the nerve to read my WL letter and notice it says: "If you no longer wish to be considered for the Clas of 2011..." . Lets just say the warm and fuzzy feeling this holiday season just seems to keep on coming...
Anyone with suggestions on how to navigate the waitlist? They do say additional matl. is accepted - but what is the best way to submit additional recommendation letters or documents of extra curricular activities etc...

Hi
I need a little help with Booth's first question-
How did you choose your most recent job/internship and how did this experience influence your future goals? What about the Chicago Booth MBA makes you feel it is the next best step in your career at this time?
Other than answering why MBA do I have to answer WHY NOW ? Please answer. Thanks in advance

Ari, at least in my case, I tried to tie together how my current job helped me define my goals (it could be by similarity or by opposition as you could say "After working 4 years in the industry I have realized that I want to do consulting" its super simplistic but you get the idea)...

I didn't specifically addressed the Why now part, but if you work your essay in a way it shows you have grown enough that you need the MBA to take your skills to the next level, then this is it...

On the Why Chicago, of course the key word is flexibility, but then you need to make that flexibility work for you towards your goals. Some people, like me, might use that flexibility to avoid repeating topics that already know, others might use flexibility to focus on something very specific towards their goals (analytic finance- risk management-entrepreneurship...etc)...

hope this helps...it worked for me...

LEAD.

LEAD is arguably the most overhyped utterly useless entirely worthless bag of garbage ever concieved by man. And that's me being polite. In all seriousness, I don't think I could create something more worthless if I tried.

....

Rhyme - my most sincere thanks to you, my friend! Your two posts about Booth's cons were extremely helpful (two +1's awarded already). I am expecting to hear from a 1st-year Booth student in the next couple of days (following my Booth admit). Your posts will go a long way in helping me ask the right questions and make the best of my time with the 1st year - of course, I will make no mention of you or your post (even though all I know about you is your alias :)).

Thanks again! And I'll do my best to pay it forward!

ok... second try posting, not sure if the other one worked.

I just joined this forum to learn more about Chicago. I was just accepted (+40k) and I'm excited to hear the pros (and cons) about Chicago.

Does anyone know how many people receive merit scholarships each year?

Cheers!

I seem to recall reading it was a large percentage -- I think it's in their viewbook online.

I'll do you one better. I didn't get a single penny my first year, and even with a 3.98 GPA I didn't get one of 10 academic scholarships awarded in the second year.
