USC and Rutgers are pretty far apart in reputation, but not in terms of recruiting.
USC's MS program is in demand because of the school's ability to place their grads into top accounting firms.
(even within the same accounting firms, graduates from different schools get recruited for different divisions and programs)
Rutgers is a great school in the east coast for placing its graduates into accounting firms but if you are in the area, it certainly isn't the only option. If you are looking for recruiting factor, there are other schools in the area such as Hofstra, St Johns, Baruch, Fordham, and Pace University. These schools get recruited heavily as much as Rutgers, some more than the other.
