Good luck to everyone putting the finishing touches on their apps! I'm in for Round 2! I actually feel pretty good about this one.

Five down, one more to go...

I was admitted to Stern's part-time program recently, but decided to decline and apply full-time R2 instead...

Can anyone guess if this will have a positive or negative impact on my application?

I send in my 3rd essay via FedEx because the file was over the 500kb. I tracked it and it arrived, but does anyone know if the school sends a confirmation that is has been received and gone into the file?

what sort of file is it? just be careful:

Please do not submit anything that must be viewed or played electronically (e.g. CDs, DVDs, MP3s, online links)

Finally done with all of my applications and feeling really relieved. Now it's time to go back in the party zone :)

@LB20

You are correct! whatever document you have uploaded is finally getting converted to pdf internally. So you can upload the pdf document directly. I didn't try it but I don't see any issue in uploading the pdf document. Only modification internally it do is put the name, applicant number and the essay number on top corners.

In my case, because of many photos in my 3rd essay, document was sized around 1.5 MB. Using photo editor I reduced the size of the pics and cut down the size of the document to 498 KB to upload the document.

They didn't do that for me, but I was nervous about it too.

About to submit for R2! Curious to see how many previous admits did an essay on Q3. I remember at the info session they mentioned about 30% did essays, wondering what percentage of admits did essays.
I express myself much better through words, and my essay is not traditional by any means. I am not an artist by any means and when I saw what I came up with in PPT, i scraped it and decided to write instead.

Any other essay submissions out there? maybe ill be unique in that i wasnt unique :-P

If you are a better writer than through another means, then by all means, write it. Don't go too creative if you can't think of a better way to express yourself. Otherwise, you might weaken your app as opposed to strengthening it. You know yourself so put your best foot forward and don't look back, it will only drive you insane.

Just my 2 cents. :-)

No they don't, and having seen the number of USPS / FedEx deliveries in the week around the submissions I know why. The school is well known by all the postal people, and the person on the front desk in admissions signs for them all, rather than at say the front of the building. I would say you only might hear if they do't receive it, as your file will show incomplete.

Submitted on 01/15 for R2. A lot of work to cut the word count, but eventually got them somwhere around the limits.

I applied to NYU in early October for R1 and haven't heard anything back in regard to interview or rejection. Is it appropriate for me to call up and ask about the status of my application?

No - they state that updates will take place up to Feb 15. There are hundreds of people in a similar position, and if you call the answer you will get will be pretty much my sentence (first because they will not comment on individual files, second because the person will not be an adcom, third because that is the same as told to all candidates so as not to appear to show impartial treatment).

I know the waiting can be pretty awful - I can remember getting my interview notice only a fortnight before the cut-off.
