hi guys ..took my gmat exam on 18th jan... and i was in a shock when i saw 730q50v40...
first i have taken a lot of mock tests and score read as under..
a) kaplan 750,750 and 790..(790 was just two days before exam)..
b) princeton online-720
c)manhattan online free test-750
d) gmatprep-680(before i started any studies and i didnt know the difference in which and that).. thereafter 760,770..
e) knewton online free test-750
after such prep i was expectin to see atleast 760..
few things i felt during exam..
i) i had never done essays in any exam but felt in real exam that it did drain me a bit..
ii) most imp thing i felt was that the q in both sections specially verbal didnt follow any pattern seen in these mock tests.. writing essays couldnt have got me so down that i wudnt have been able to spot normal sc strategies...
iii) in verbal ,what i felt most strong about(SC) turned out to be my waterloo...
overall a real bad experience
i wud appreciate if all those who have taken exam from 15th jan10 cud relate some of their experience and score recd in this thread, so that it is useful to people plg to give exam in future...

Same score, gave my test on the 16th. I was a little disappointed too. Read more in my debrief.

My advice to you -
GMAT is just a part of the big picture.
You have a very strong score.
You can make better use your time by making the rest of your application package as strong as your score.
Most importantly, no school will deny you an admission solely based on your current GMAT score.

Well said. I m really curious to know why people retake GMAT after scoring 710-720 to achieve 760? When adcoms will look at the scores ,they might ask to explain the reason for retaking the GMAT when 720 was well qualified for application.
