MA, it would be better if you underline the part instead of puting bunch of dot.

Go for (E) too
(C) is wrong for missing verb, miss use of "of".

I will go with ‘E’ – the pronoun ‘it’ needs a noun to refer to which in this case is ‘intricacy’
In ‘C’ – the ‘it’ does not have an antecedent
