OK. So I am a JD/MBA applicant. Submitted through the LSAC website before the Jan 7 R2 deadline which is required for joint degree applicants. But one of my recommenders waited FOREVER to get his letter in. I gave him a fair amount of time, and he had completed a letter, but it was for law school and he wanted to make some changes to tailor it for a joint degree program. Then he disappeared, eventually sending it in almost a full month past the deadline. So, I was still okay on the law school side, since their deadline wasn't until Feb 15, but Fuqua admissions sent me an email stating that I had been bumped into R3 and I would be notified on April 22. Meanwhile, I received interview invitations from other schools, but not from Fuqua, which was a little disappointing and surprising as I figured my GMAT score alone would probably get me an interview. Then April 22 came and went with no word. I emailed the employee I had been in contact with and she said they apologize for my inconvenience - they were now looking into my application and would be in contact with me next week to let me know when I would receive a decision.
So, it sounds like my application was inadvertently overlooked. I wonder if I will have any chance now, and if this is what actually happened, I wonder what would have been had it not. I can hope that I am accepted to the law school and reapply to Fuqua next year, but my MBA app is MUCH stronger than my law school app, so I might be out of luck. I always wondered what would happen if an application was somehow lost, and I'm afraid I might find out. With all the work I put into this application process, I am very discouraged by this turn of events.
