Did you get your Eng UG from Canada? If so, does your university follow the 4.0 GPA scale (I know many Canadian universities only have %) - not sure what to report as overall mark on application, any ideas?

Yes, our profile is quite similar indeed !. I did get my undergrad from Canada and my University followed the 4.0 GPA scale. I will put down my cumulative GPA in the application. Since many education systems do not follow a 4.0 GPA scale, I don't think INSEAD requires you to convert your marks from percentage to GPA. Reporting your cumulative marks as percentage on the application should be sufficient.

That is the reasonable answer I'm getting from several sources so I might as well end up just doing that. Have you had a chance to attend any info sessions yet?

Re: INSEAD SEPTEMBER 2011 Intake [#permalink]
I did attend an INSEAD info session in my city way back in 2008. The info session was hosted by INSEAD's Marketing Director and there were 6-7 Alumni who shared their experiences at INSEAD. I vaguely recall that the agenda included information on the MBA curriculum, Admissions Criteria, Student Life and Social Scene at INSEAD, and Career Opportunities.

Then the Alumni introduced themselves and this was followed by a Q&A session where we could pose Questions to the Alumni and Marketing Director. The 20 mins Q&A session was followed by a Cocktail event and the audience was able to mingle more closely with the Alumni. The Alumni were very smart people but also down to earth and seemed fun to work with. They stressed that INSEAD was an intense life-transforming experience for them and it was the best decision they ever made. They only wished that the program was longer than 10 months.

INSEAD seems like a great school but the language requirement seems steep.

I personally don't think its that steep. Most people today speak at least 2 languages and learning a basic level of a third exit language could be achieved before or even during the program. I think its in sync with their message of delivering MBA grads of strong international outlook.

Jan intake gives you chance for internship in Summer whereas Sept intake does not. I think that is the main difference rather than anything else.

January intake is more competitive because INSEAD is one of the very few schools to offer an intake in January.

Hello alll!
glad to see this thread up and running. Count me in for R1- sept 2011

Shaselai, cant tell how competitive your profile is just based on GMAT, GPA and work ex. You also need to look at industry and function and what else you bring to the table? What is your complete package though work, acads and extra curricular activities.

Does anybody have information on the recommendations ?
Will the links provide a space for a recommendation letter ? or will it link to a list of questions ?

Re: INSEAD SEPTEMBER 2011 Intake [#permalink]
i went to the fair over the weekend and chatted with one of the alums. Now i want to go there even more! he said he got his decision pretty quick when he applied to R1. it is also interesting that the student needs to pass a language test to graduate - he said the test is pretty simple but students are required to know 3 languages (2 coming in) upon graduation. he opted to learn French(he knows 5 languages) so he could experience France while he attended INSEAD :).
Also, is 5-6 years WE high enough for INSEAD or they want people with even more years under his/her belt?
