Same way there is at every school. A small number are kept on should spaces open up at late notice. If it doesn't suit I am sure the school is fair and understanding as to why candidates may choose to withdraw.

Emailed a status update. I figured an update without a phone call to check if I was still interested was a bad, bad sign.

I asked this question. Before they used to interview like 30% and accept 80%
Now they interview 30% but only accept 50%.
I personally heard this from Adcom.. so no third party info

Looks you got one.. when did you get it?

I have called a couple times, but the person working the admin desk won't give me any info 8-(

It's almost July folks. There is still quite a bit of us on the waitlist. Unless there is a big shake-down or a wave of admits, I will lose all hope in about 2 weeks. If the latter happens and I'm not one of the admitted, I'll lose hope even quicker :)

Because no on has heard anything for a while, do you think all slots are filled? They are just waiting till the last day in case someone changes their mind?

Just pure speculation:
today is the last day to send in fall tuition payments. perhaps they are waiting to see if people fail to pay for whatever reason (loans getting denied, visa issues, international loan not coming through, etc.) and will release wl decisions based on open spots after this.

Just received an email stating that I have been removed from the waitlist without interview. Oh well, next year's apps are just around the corner. Apply in October '09, hear results in July '10... heh.

Sorry to hear that MMtrader, especially with that long wait. Did you ask for a deadline or an update?

The bright light at the end of the tunnel is that reapp admission rates are slightly higher than first-timers' I think. Is Stern's reapplication up? I wonder how its essays will change.

Looks like several people have been dinged and others accepted off the waitlist. Stern released their 2011 essays today. Although I still have hopes in getting off the waitlist anytime before September, what's the best strategy in handling the waitlist and reapp?

Will doing a reapp affect waitlist chances? This is an odd situation where one could be a waitlister and a reapp at the same time (if submitted early enough).

hey guys,
i just got dinged off the waitlist (w/o interview). i resubmitted a better gmat score and a letter of support which may have been what kept me on this long.

anyway, the ding letter "encouraged that i reapply next year" and that they "hope i haven't lost interest in stern" so i guess that's a good thing. i'm guessing not every ding letter encourages reapplication?

As somebody on the business week forum noticed, Stern posted its incoming class of Fall 2010 profile yesterday.

It's getting harder to hold on to hope...

Hopefully this will give the forum some hope. Some improbable wrinkle in the space-time continuum had me choosing between admissions offers from Stern and CBS at the end of last week. After some deliberating, I've decided on Columbia, which means that a spot is open in the 2012 class as of today when I officially informed the school of my decision. I really hope it goes to one of you!
