Hi -

I have MS in US, 5 yrs work ex (in US in IT but basically from India-male) and 680 gmat(quant 50, verbal 32, awa 6.0) and aiming for 1 yr programs for 2011 from top B Schools ( IIM-A, ISB, INSEAD, LBS, Stanford). I had actuallay scheduled for Aug 30th for a retake but now feel unsure as Round 1 has started. Please analyze my profile objectively and let me know what I should be doing.

Thanks.

With your target schools and the fact that you come from a highly competitive peer group it would make sense to give the GMAT again. However you need to be confident of hitting 710-720. You dont wanna end up with the same score or a 10 point bump up which would again leave you in the same position as you are now.

My GPA in Masters is 3.72 but in Bachelors it is around 3.0. Yes I am aiming for 1 year executive programs. I am not entirely confident at this point if I can really beat my previous score by 30-40 points, and unfortunately the deadline for Round 1 of ISB is Aug 30th....I am really stuck...

Well you might want to apply in R2 deadline Nov30 with a better score. ISB is very competitive and a high GMAT score would really help you. I am from an IT profile too though without a masters. I dint even get a IV call from ISb although the in the feedback they were impressed by my profile,ECS and community service they categorically mentioned that i had a low GMAT score(690)!

You are asking a question that has pages of discussions to it, but generally, the consensus is R1 is best.
