Car owners who use high quality synthetic motor oil get better engine performance from their cars than do car owners who use lower quality motor oil. Julius has consistently used high quality synthetic motor oil in his six-year-old compact car. Therefore, he has a lower chance of getting into a major automobile accident than he would have if he had used an inferior type of motor oil. Which of the following, if true, most strengthens the conclusion drawn above? A Every year a small percentage of major automobile accidents result from stalled engines, the occurrence of which is a sign of poor engine performance. B The most common cause of major automobile accidents is driver error. C Julius believes that an essential component of being a responsible driver is to maintain his automobile in the best possible condition. D It has been proven that cars which have been lubricated with high quality synthetic motor oil have, on average, a slightly higher top speed than do cars of the same model but which have received lower quality motor oils. E Although Julius's vehicle has never been involved in a major automobile accident, it has been involved in two minor "fender benders"; in neither incident was Julius considered at fault.

There is a logical gap between the synthetic oil and lower chance of the accident. The assumption must be something like "synthetic oil increases engine performance, which in turn lowers chance of accident". A fits the bill. Strengthening question with logical gaps are easy to tackle once we can identify the missing links.

A - Correct. Stalled engine on the road can result in an accident. Since he used good oil, less probability of stalled engine, hence, low probability of an accident
B - Driver error and engine performance not related
C - No connection
D - You might have read Speed kills, but as far as GMAT is concerned, stretching it too much,
