Any info on this Texas program? I've heard recruiting is pretty good for all the major accounting firms.

How tough is it to land a Big 4 job after getting your master's without previous undergrad internship experience? I know internships are key, but I haven't had an opportunity to complete one during college and won't be able to before starting a Master's next fall unless it's during the summer. Unfortunately, audit/tax internships typically take place during the spring.

Does anyone know people here or has gone to this program themself? Just trying to get an idea of it's prestige in Texas.

If you can do a short internship with any non public accounting firm (in audit, general finance/accounting, etc) during the school year, it should be fine. Make sure you participate in relevant club events. High GPA is the key to getting invited to interviews. Also, make sure that Big 4 firms come on campus for graduate program (not the undergraduate). At some schools, the hiring trend is completely different (i.e. - Big 4 firms come on campus to recruit from undergrad school in large numbers, but barely any for graduate program)

I would email the program director at Cox. They were very helpful and prompt in replying to my inquiries, and I came away pretty impressed with the program. They get you in touch with Dallas-area big 4 people to discuss career goals and opportunities as soon as you enroll, and with the small program size in a good market, I don't think they have any difficulty placing graduates in their desired practice area. I will be applying there for fall 2011 entry.

Thanks. Yeah I have spoken with them and was very impressed. I think it's probably the best option in Texas after UT and A&M, agreed?
