Question about the Work History Form... do you think it is necessary to give the starting/ending salary/bonus for every position held within the same company?

For my primary work experience I held 5 different positions as I progressed. I know what my starting salary was upon hire and my ending salary/bonus when I left, but I don't have the history of pay increases that came with each promotion.

It depends how you put them on your resume. If they are promotions in the same deparment, I would keep the final salary before you moved to a clearly defined different role.

I haven't seen anybody ask this question yet, but for the formatting for essay 1, do they want us to break the essay up into subheadings for each question (i.e. like Yale's short answer section)? Or do we write it as a single cohesive essay and just talk about each of the bullet points?

I found this in last year's thread. You can do both!

See page 5/6 of this thread for discussion of this. Here's the short answer:

I emailed and asked adcom for clarification regarding rolling admissions and here is the answer:

We understand that sorting out the different schools’ processes can be confusing. At Stern, we typically do not begin reviewing applications or sending application acknowledgments until the first (November 15th) deadline. Once we begin reviewing applications, notifications are rolling, meaning that the applicant could receive a notification at any time. If the application was complete and submitted on or before the deadline, the applicant will receive notification on or any time before the notification date for that deadline. If the application is incomplete, we cannot guarantee that applicants will be notified by the notification deadline.

NYU starts reviewing applications after the deadline date. The notifications for interviews/dings are rolling.

Hey guys! I have a question for any reapplicants out here - I am reapplying to Stern but am worried about Essay 1 - my goals still remain the same from last year and the rationale for the MBA is the same too so I am not sure what new content I can put in a 750 word essay. I have of course improved my candidacy since last year so have things to write in the Optional essay. Anyone else facing the same dilemma? Thanks!

Just as another data point for everyone considering different schools, I reached out to a CBS student from a club in my area of interest and got a reply 6 weeks later, long after I had submitted my app. Today I sent an email to a Stern student whose info I came across in a resume book and he replied to me 15 minutes later. He enthusiastically offered to meet with me and talk about all my questions (we come from a similar background). I'm meeting with him tomorrow afternoon, and since I'm going to be there anyway I signed up for a class visit.

Don't mean this as a bash against CBS, it's a great school that is very highly regarded. This is simply my experience with a member of each student body.

Interesting, as I've had the exact opposite experience. All the CBS students I reached out to responded within a couple of days and offered more than I expected. Stern, not so much; perhaps I picked the wrong students?

I visited Stern yesterday: class visit, tour and information session. It was done well (not as organized or spectacular as Wharton or Booth, but I don't think that's a fair comparison.) The students who met us potential applicants were very friendly and each stressed the collaborative nature of "Sternies". EQ was also something that came up a lot. I attended the Investment Banking class taught by Prof. Murphy; hilarious with a take no prisoners attitude! Definitely the highlight of my visit. I think the location in NYC places restrictions on the facilities. Eg. the happy hours are in the basement. A lot of potential students were interested in luxury brand management; perhaps Stern has a strong program for it.

I think my visit will help most with my essays. Outreach to the Stern community is a key aspect of essay #2.

Hi

I have a question regarding the recommendation letter.
As of today I have only two years of full time work ex(graduated in 2008) so was thinking to add a third rec from my college as I have been quite active ( strong acad, leadership ,extra cur etc).
Should I add the third rec or go ahead with the two professional rec.How the adcom views an additional acad recommender.

regards
