Hi everyone,
I was waitlisted in R1, and immediately went on with plan B, and sent my application to IE. Well, it was worth the while to have a plan B, since I got accepted to IE, and haven't yet heard from INSEAD.
About a month ago, IE gave me a deadline to pay the initial deposit in order to reserve my seat for the Nov 11 intake. Naturally, i wrote INSEAD and urged them to reconsider my status before my IE deadline. They wrote back, and told me that my application was reconsidered, but they were not able to change my waitlist status at the time.
Bottom line - my IE deadline was yesterday, and I decided to go with IE instead of risking a rejection from INSEAD.
Good luck to all you INSEAD aspirants!
noamk,
i got an admit from IE (November intake) on the day i had my INSEAD interview.. so obviously, the 30 days notice that they give expires before i get my INSEAD decision... however, if you read well the IE decision email, and ask the coordinator in your country, u'll notice that there's NO real deadline the pay the commitment fee at IE! They mention clearly that you can pay as long as there are empty seats for the intake u're applying to... which means u can even pay 2 to 3 months prior to the program start!
... my admission is still pending since lat December, and i can pay at any time, but i got admits from insead and lbs!
Hi MBAyer,
You're right about the deadline not being a real deadline. However, if INSEAD leave me in the waiting list, I would have to make my choice at some point, and I decided that now is as good a time as any. Stats of previous waiting list threads have shown that chances to get out of the waiting list are best at the beginning. The adcom have made movements in the waiting list 3 times since, and I was not included, which reduces my odds. In addition, I want to start applying to scholarships early, find an apartment, and study a new language (French for Fonti, or Spanish for IE).
All this (and more) takes time, and I decided not to postpone it more than I have to.
Congrats on the INSEAD and LBS admits - a tough choice between the two. But I guess I won't be seeing you in either one.
