I have just rejected my offer from Texas. I think McCombs is a great school, however, their financial aid package felt well short of what I have been offered at another program.

So, good news for all the guys on the waitlist: good luck to all! :)

visited this weekend and LOVED it...the program is unreal, Austin is well...amazing. Now I have a hard call...accept UT's offer (over NYU) and then potentially come off the Tuck waitlist...what to do?

Depends on your goals and where you want to live post-mba.

Yeah..if that's the case any of those schools are great. Since you won't need a job right away cost should definitely be a consideration. The cost of living between NYU and UT is too huge to ignore. Where did you feel more "comfortable"?

oooh felt comfortable at both Tuck and UT...Tuck facilities are just breathtaking...have the whole Ivy, small town appeal. Great alum and faculty. UT has such flexibility in their program, it's small and cohesive (like Tuck), but with the big city feel AND a huge sports team. The alum at UT are awesome. I'm really just torn.

Are you in at Tuck? According to the profile you are waitlisted. Just put your deposit down at UT if that is somewhere you would like to go and keep your Tuck waitlist? Is that allowed? I'm not sure. I don't know if it's like Columbia ED where you have to rescind all offers. I doubt it.

And from what I've read here is that Tuck is over enrolled. I'm guessing that doesn't bode well for any waitlisters.

I am in a similar dilema. I was all ready to send in my deposit to UT, and then I got admitted to CMU R4 and then got off the Duke waitlist. I have to decide on UT vs. Duke ASAP. I just like Austin alot more - and there is probably a 50% chance I go into energy finance (I have a background in it) and I am sure I will go into finance of some sort. The rub is that I don't want to live in Texas afterwards -west coast or NY for sure. Everyone says I should go Duke but I am still torn. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

If you want to go into finance then Texas is a great place. All the big financial companies recruit at Texas for Texas and New York. Yes, you can get to New York from Texas.

Energy finance-UT is the place. Texas has a large alumni base so you have a shot at either coast. As you said you like Austin. I would go for that.

I had a similar dilemma - I'm in at Mccombs, although I'm still on the waitlist (R3) at Duke. To me, Fuqua has a great energy concentration, but it is geared more towards sustainability and the environment, whereas Texas has stronger ties to the traditional energy industry and a lot of clean tech companies. I think Fuqua is a great program, but I'm not convinced it is so much stronger than McCombs, particularly for the energy industry. And Austin is a great town, but its hot as hell. Definitely a tough choice...

It depends on your goals and location preferences after school. Tuck and McCombs are both very good schools, but Tuck is in a different tier than McCombs. If it were me, I would pick Tuck in a heartbeat, but I also know that everyone's situation is different.
