Eight identical machines can produce 360 aluminum cans per hour. If all of the machines work at the same constant rate, how many cans could 5 such machines produce in 3 hours?

A. 675
B. 750
C. 1,800
D. 5,900
E. 7,500

(rate of one machine)*(number of machines)*(time)=(work done) --> (rate of one machine)*8*1=360 --> (rate of one machine)=45 cans per hour.

Now, 5 such machines in 3 hours can produce (rate of one machine)*(number of machines)*(time)=45*5*3=675 cans.

Answer: A.

8 machines/ 360 cans = 5 machines/ x cans
8x= 1800
x=225

(225)(3 hours)= 675 cans. The answer is A.

Hi, if 8 machines make 360 then 5 would make
8:360
5:x
X= 225
so in 3 hours it would be 225*3=675

\(\frac{8}{M}=\frac{360cans}{1hr}==>\frac{1}{M} = 45cans/1hr\)

Calculate 5 machines doing work in 3 hours.
\(W=(5)(\frac{45cans}{1hr})(3hrs)==>W=675cans\)

rt=w
8(rt)=360

rt=45

t=1 ===> r=45

rt=w

r=45
t=3

n=5

5rt=5(45*3)=675

Rate of each machine \(= \frac{360}{8}= 45\)
Rate of 5 machines \(= 45*5 = 225\)
Total cans from 5 machines in 3 hrs = Rate * time = 225*3

At this point the units digit comes out as 5 and I am a stickler for time. The only answer is A.

8 Machines - 360 Cans/Hour

1 Machine = 45 Cans/Hour

5 Machines in 3 Hours \(= 45 * 5 * 3 = 675\)

Hence, Answer is A
