"causing...." is required to explain cause and effect phenomena

Moreover, "to change" and "to drop" are parallel.

So I would go with Choice D

In D...by sucking...and to drop is not parallel

however, in C..by sucking and dropping is parallel..

Pls help explain why C is wrong!!

the needles are the ones changing color and dropping to the floor. Hence D is indeed parallel

the wooly creature sucks out sap from the twigs
causing needles (some part of the plant)
to change color
and
to drop prematurely

-----------------------------------------

if the sentence intended to say the wooly thing
sucks the sap out of a plant
AND
drops prematurely

then C would have been right... but then the above logic doesnt make sense does it?

By sucking sup from the young twigs of the hemlock tree, tree growth is retarted by the wooly adelgid, causing needles to change colour from deep green to grayish green and to drop[u] prematurely

A...

B. tree growth is retarted by the wooly adelgid, and this causing the colour of needles to change from deep green to grayish green, and their dropping

C. the wooly adelgid retards tree growth, which causes needles to change colours from deep green to grayish green, and dropping

D. the wooly adelgid retards tree growth, causing needles to change colours from deep green to grayish green, and to drop

E. the wooly adelgid retards tree growth, and this causes the colour of needles to change from deep green to grayish green, and the their dropping

Answer Is D
A and B are out of modifier issues
BETWEEN C,D and E :- D is best . Parallelism "to change colour" and "to drop"
p.s:- This is the one of the most lazy post I have seen. No sign of even a little bit of effort .
