Hello,
I am currently in the application process and wanted to see if you might be able to evaluate my profile for the 6 schools that I am applying to: Yale SOM, Cornell Johnson, Ohio State Fisher, UNC, George Washington, Babson.
My only real concern is my GMAT, so I will put that out there first: 660 (V41, Q 39). AWA 6. I took the GMAT twice, scoring a 650 the first time. Not sure how much that matters.
GPA: 3.82 from American University in Washington, DC
Work Exp: 3 years upon matriculation. I have been in a premier leadership development program at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where I completed 4 details around the government in 2 years. I have worked for a Presidential appointee as her special assistant (she asked me to be her lead speech writer only a few weeks after starting because I wrote a speech for her out of the blue and she liked it... which I put in my essays). Her Chief of Staff is writing my letter of rec. I also did a detail in the U.S. Senate where I was an energy and environment fellow for a U.S. Senator (the legislative assistant I worked with is writing my other letter of rec). I also did a detail with the Energy Star program and helped businesses save over $ 2M in annual energy costs while there.
I currently work permanently at the US EPA on corporate partnerships to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in supply chains. Over the last two years, I have been promoted twice, with a total salary increase of over $20k.
Extra Curriculars: Lots of volunteering. I pack lunches for low-income seniors and the homeless, handle rescue dogs to get them adopted, tutor unemployed veterans for college entrance exams, and am a volunteer tax preparer for low income families.
Short term goals: Stay within the energy and environment area but move to private sector sustainability consulting.
Long-term goals: Found my own consulting firm using my Federal experience and post-MBA consulting experience. I also plan to create a program to leverage charitable donations from various consulting firms through direct payroll deductions (similar to the Combined Federal Campaign program in the Federal government) to connect the industry to a greater purpose through charity.
Any information or advice you may be able to lend regarding my candidacy would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!
