The sentence is -

Paul, like the sales managers before him , demonstrated tenacity for the role and sensitivity to each of his clients’ unique needs
Here compassion is between Paul and his manager.
Like is more appropriate than 'as'
A. as the sales managers before him
B. just as the sales managers before him
C. like the sales managers before him
Correct.
D. almost like the sales managers before him
