Read the statement and the instructions that follow it and then make any notes that will help you plan your response.
“People often complain that products are not made to last. They feel that making products that wear out fairly quickly wastes both natural and human resources. What they fail to see, however, is that such manufacturing practices keep costs down for the consumer and stimulate demand.”

Which do you find more compelling: the complaint about products that do not last or the response to it?
Explain your positions using relevant reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.

The aforementioned argument states that products, are often made not to last by manufacture, waste for both natural and human resources, the manufacturers however argue that they have to produce product in order to meet either customer satisfaction or keep cost down. According to this statements, this topic is very interesting but yet contentious. Based on customer’s comment, customer always wants to receive product with high quality but low price. Moreover this product must respond to customer’s satisfaction more than other competitors in the global market. On the other hand, for manufacture’s sides, they however find really hard way to retain quality with lower selling price due to cost reduction and high competition in global markets these days. They also need to design product in order to minimize either manufacturing process or material usage. Regarding this manufacture’s action, in my opinion, I think manufacturing comment is more compelling. Since, customer fails to explain and give further details in their complains, for example, time required for product wearing out.

Due to high competitors in the global market, most of manufacture’s trend is cost reduction in order to get the competitive price. Therefore, wearing period for each product’s design is decreasing. For an instance, world automotive companies, Honda, Toyota and Nissan, establish their cost reduction section for each production site for gathering new ideas to reduce production price, minimize transportation cost and manufacturing process. According to these ideas, they could obtain lower production price and also meet their customer’s satisfaction. However, for quality issue, they still preserve their standards about their vehicle’s qualities and legal limitation regarding every test given in every. According to this global ideas for cost reduction, limitation of part quality still have affected their production process. Therefore every manufacture has their own standard for quality issue, customer’s complained mentioned above isn’t convincing due to lack of detail for time required to be fracture or wear out.

Regarding customer’s complain about product quality, normally every product has their own wear out limit depends on material, manufacturing process and production’s criteria from manufacture. Thus, for this statement, customer fails to mention time required for each product to wear out and how did they use this product for or did customer use this product match to manufacture’s intention. For example, if customer uses sedan-car for transporting heavy load or driving in high and wavy terrains, this vehicle will have less amount of time required to fix. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, despite cost reduction, each manufacture still has to preserve their product’s quality according to each manufacture’s standard. Due to lack of criteria mentioned, such as type of usage, time before product wearing out, this customer complain isn’t compelling enough compared to manufacture’s side.

In conclusion, based on this statement, manufacture’s comment is more compelling compared to customer’s comment. Since customer fails to mention many criteria reflecting to product cycle life, customer should state condition of usage, time required to wear out in order to testify manufacture’s standard.

I follow standard structure for writing essay, However my writing skill is not likely to improve.
