I obtained my first 'professional' roll with a third party insurance provider straight out of school. Main responsibilities were mostly admin support and client management. Stayed with this company for one year before deciding to make a drastic change and move to China. I have currently been living in Beijing for 5 years. My first three years were with a small and relatively unknown sports marketing/management agency. I worked my way up through the company eventually reaching an assistant management level in sales/client services were we developed programs and sponsorship activation for active sponsors as well as proposal writing and presentation for potential sponsors. At the time I left this position the program I directly developed was hosting 10 events annually, each in a different city, with an active participation of nearly 300 clients per year, all of whom were direct customers of Mercedes-Benz (the account I handled).
Currently, I am working in a large and well known relocation company in the sales department. My main responsibilities include developing and following up on sales leads, meeting clients for consultation on the services we can provide and coordinating logistics across a global network of other relocation agents.
On the side, I have helped my significant other get a business off the ground and break even within 3 months. I actively participate in networking events around Beijing and I am and always have been a lover of sports (played basketball throughout college). Addditionally, I am a certified HSK level III (intermediate) Mandarin speaker, looking to achieve level VI (highest) by January.
I know my GPA is low and not from a great school. If necessary I would take the gmat again, as I am hoping to attend a reputable program. I am fairly realistic about my abililties/time constraints on studying for the test but hope the my diverse work experience and language ability might set me apart or at least help to overshadow that gloomy GPA.
I am hoping for a top 50 school, do you think there is any chance given the circumstances?
What programs would you recommend for someone of my background?
Thanks very much in advance for any feedback!
I think you would have a chance in the bottom half of the top 50 given your experience, but a higher GMAT, especially a strong quant score, would really help you if you want to go higher. And yes, your work experience, initiative, and language skills will help, but they don't erase the GPA. You might be interested in
