Dear Paul,
I had a chat with Tanis Kmetyk (
Accepted.com) for a mock interview and she advised that given my profile I might be interested in applying to Insead, but I doubt I have the numbers for that faculty.
My profile:
Italian, male, 32 years old (since february).
700 Gmat (45 quant 41 verb) 109 Toefl.
Education
Degree in Business Administration at Bocconi University, Italy. Took me 7 years to graduate (rather than the 5 years needed by best students) since I worked in my family farm and studied at the same time. Graduated with good grades.
I have a MSc in Finance from Cass Business School, where I graduated with distinction.
Professional Experience
Worked part-time at the large farm that my family owns, over university years. After finishing my studies, I worked 1 year in a consulting and accounting firm in Milan.
After my MSc, I shortly worked in London in IB and then worked in consulting (M&A) in Milano, for a couple of years.
After that, I had to move back to my town to take care of my family business, for family reasons. Since then, I worked as consultant at a local consulting firm and at my family farm as General Manager, converting the farm to organic practices, diversifying production, and investing in vineyards (for 2 years).
Over the 2 years spent back in hometown, I deepened my knowledge of organic agriculture, and sustainable development.
Nowadays, i would like to improve my knowledge of how to conduct a business, in areas like stategic management and marketing to be able to expand my family business. At the same time, I would like to unify my interests and knowledge in entrepreneurship, consulting and sustainable agriculture by gaining specific experience in sustainable development at an international level, either in management consulting firms, or venture capital firms operating in this area, hence my desire to do an MBA, and one day start my own consulting business in these sectors.
My extra curricular activities are nothing special, due to a busy life. I am part of associations for protection of the environment and take part when possible to initiatives and trips.
I applied to CASS, LBS, Cambridge and Oxford, waiting responses from all.
I am considering IMD and Insead.
I like Cass, only downside is that I already did my MSc in there, but I really enjoyed that experience.
LBS, I think I am too old but I gave it a shot.
Cambridge and Oxford, not sure how I rate against other applicants... your opinion?
Finally, What about IMD and Insead? IMD might be good given that they are open to old applicants...
I know you are busy, but I hope you will find the time to give me an answer. Thank you in advance.
Best regards
