Every generation of people is different in important ways. How is your generation different from your parents’ generation? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your answer.
The world is continuously changing. This means that the development of our societies is producing severe gaps among generations of people. Hence, my generation is far away from that of my parents mainly because we have a perfect manage of new technologies, we speak several languages and we have an open mind.
First, every year the humanity makes one step more in technology matters. For example, I have grown up with my personal laptop and my mobile phone. However, my father is not able to manage the computer as I do. In addition, my mother does not like the mobile phones since she has growth without all these fashion communication tools. I have tried many times to convince my mother to have a blackberry smart phone. I explained her that she can improve her communication with friends and family. But there is no way because she thinks these smart phones are very complicated machines.
Second, people from my generation at least speak two languages. Nevertheless, people from my parents’ generation normally speak only one language. For instance, now there is a higher offer in private language school than 35 years ago. I had the opportunity to join one of these school and thus I speak three languages. My father always tells me that his generation did not have such an opportunity to learn different languages.
Finally, people of this period of the history are more open-minded than people from 35 years ago. There are many things that now people see as normal. For example, I see living with your girlfriend as very common. My father still does not understand this way of thinking.
To sum up, there are many differences between my parents` generation and mine. But the main reasons that make it very different are the new technologies management, the ability to speak many languages and the open-mindedness my generation has.
