Accepted to PT MBA (Weekend) at both Kellogg and Booth

Background Engineering/Technology in Healthcare Industry (Med Devices), interested in strategy/general management post MBA.

I really like both schools so having a hard time to lean one way or the other.. any thoughts?

personally - i would choose Booth. I took classes at booth of the PT programs...and the quality of the Booth teaching & caliber of students was waaay better. Clearly, this could be dependent on the classes i took... actually, scratch that, i went to the saturday mba class. Anyway, i MUCH preferred my Booth experience... if i were you, i would sit in on a class in both places if possible and make your choice based on fit... in terms of prestige, bla bla bla - def coin flip

Thank you for the insights. I attended classes at both schools and agree with you on the caliber of students. Below are some points that I was able to gather by talking to Booth and Kellogg students/alumni:

-Booth has better academic rigor (more work!!) and a different grading system (A+, A etc) compared to Kellogg (A, B etc).
- Kellogg is more fun oriented compared to Booth
- More diversity in the classroom at Kellogg (based on the classes I attended)
- More flexibility at Booth in choosing courses
- Probably better enterpreunership and experiential learning courses at Booth

So far leaning towards Booth, but not a fan of the grading system. Hope to make a decision by end of this week.

Congrats for admission
As you like to be in strategy/ Management. Kellog is the best in that branch. Booth is known for finance focus. As said, Kellog has more fund and team spirit which is also they heavily insisted to practice in their learning style as opposing to booth style. Therefore, kellog has access to more companies in the strategy field.

Hi, I have a similar background and in the same boat as you. Which school did you choose? Do you have time for a quick call? Thanks

Kellogg overall is the better school for the specific focus that you are looking for but these are both top notch schools so I would push you to make a decision based on fit. If you feel more comfortable with the Booth classroom environment then that may clinch your decision, trust your gut here

Thank you for your reply. Specifically is there a differences from a career services perspective between the two for part time programs?

Kellogg is more group work focused compared to Booth. Depends what experience you want.

If you were accepted to the accelerated MBA at Kellogg, I would choose that. It's much cheaper but still an amazing program.

Thank you for your response. I do not qualify for the accelerated program. So far I am leaning towards Booth. I like dealing with numbers, analytics and also the flexibility of courses that Booth gives. Being in industry for 7+ years leading various multi-site cross-cultural teams, the 'team-work' culture at Kellogg is not something new to me. I think the key question for me is if one school is substantially better in the healthcare area in terms of networking, career services etc. So far what I am hearing is that differences are marginal at best with Kellogg having a slight advantage. That is not enough for me to change my mind unless someone thinks that Kellogg will provide a lot better opportunities in healthcare.

I would go with your gut here then, both schools are top notch programs and given your unique background and qualifications it seems Booth is more directly aligned with your development goals. I don't believe the delta between the two is enough to sway you from what your gut is telling you

Hey, I'm pretty much in the same dilemma as you. I come from an engineering background, and want to go into management/consulting after graduation. I've been accepted into both programs, and am leaning towards Booth but Kellogg seems to be better in terms of placement in that field after graduation.

What school did you pick, and why, if you don't mind me asking?

I see goel0025 has not visited since March so I am going to ping him via the PM to see if she/he can share their choice/decision. Booth vs. Kellogg is a big topic so always interested to hear who picked what and why.
