hi there,

the university i'm applying to does not take the IR and AWA score into consideration, I was wondering, if I fail those sections of the exam, would that give me an overall fail and impact my application?

If not, is it ok o just focuse on studying only for the verbal and Quantitative section.

thanks

sa

There is no pass/fail. You either score well or you score poorly. Your score out of 800 is not impacted by the AWA and IR scores.
My advice would be to put in some effort to prepare for AWA and IR too. Having a balanced score in every section is advisable. In case you decide to apply to some other schools later, you will not be worried. Anyway, once you have the AWA template, you can pretty much handle any question comfortably. IR will need a little bit of time but its worth it, in my opinion.

Use chineseburned's guide. I wish I had seen it/looked for it before I took the GMAT.
