Hello All
I am trying to understand if there is any difference in applying for R1 vs R2, R3, etc from EMBA perspective?
I appreciate your help. Thanks.
This is a GREAT question blackhat401 and it actually depends on which schools you're targeting, as there are some exceptions - but as a general statement, the EMBA programs, even at the best schools, are much less competitive since they get far fewer applications. So,
our general advice in not applying in Round 3 does NOT apply to EMBA apps (or part-time programs either, while we're on the subject).
However, just like with the full-time programs, they do start to have their class roster more fully defined as you get into Round 3 so it can be more competitive. Typically though, a strong app will do just as well in any of a school's EMBA rounds.
And, there's a big exception with Wharton EMBA. That program is nearly as competitive as their F/T track.
In all cases, an earlier-round application is an advantage, provided your profile is as strong as it can be. So try for Round 2 if you can, but if you don't have all the pieces in place yet, then in many cases for EMBA programs, it can work out just fine with a final-round app instead.
Which program(s) are you targeting? Which round are you considering? Is the reason for a possible later-round strategy due to GMAT or something else? If you want to fill us in on the specifics then maybe there's more we can say.
