I'm currently looking at EMBA programs locally, but I am wondering if others have tried to do an EMBA in a different state?

If it meant I could go to an "elite" school, and can convince my employer to sponsor some/all of it, I thought it might be worth the effort.

Has anyone tried to get an MBA that required that sort of travel? I'd love to hear your stories.

It's pretty common actually - I'm local to Haas, but we have a bunch of people who fly in from out of state. Same is true for Wharton SF. Some folks do some international travel to participate, so it certainly "can be done". One challenge can be time zones - as you'll typically be working with folks in your class on group projects/assignments in the time when you're not on campus. Totally do-able though.

I regularly help clients get into top EMBA programs around the country and very often travel is involved. While it may seem like a lot of travel, when compared to corporate travel with a lot of jobs, it isn't that bad. Most programs have you traveling once every two or three weeks and its just for a couple days, which could even be one night depending on how close you live / how early you wake up. You would cover the flights but the accommodations are covered by some programs (though not all).

Yes, there are people that fly in from all over to attend the EMBA program at Kellogg. It's very common if your schedule allows for it.
