Looks similar to last years, with a notable exception: consulting salary median rose to $140000, equal that of Tuck!

Nice job class of 2016!

Can anyone provide insight into MBB recruiting prospects from Yale? This is my biggest concern at the moment. Thanks!

All MBB of course recruit on campus plus the other major firms and more niche ones. Check the latest employment report if you haven't already; the class of 2016 did really well for consulting and I'll say really strong placements for MBB within that. We've had students place internationally across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East so geographic options are certainly available if that's what you're looking for. For the US most people fall into the NYC, Boston, DC, Chicago, SF and LA areas (moving geographically East to West; not in terms of numbers of placements). Most end up being generalists based on how the firms hire and for McK we've had traction across their generalist program as well as the implementation and digital practices. Relatedly for the likes of a Deloitte or PwC there are people who have more general strategy roles as well as operations and human capital. All these functions have recruited on campus.

For current recruiting info, it'd be best to reach out to the consulting club specifically (contact info for clubs should be up on the website). They may have more specific stats they can give out.

Total first year compensation is at ~$149000, according to poets and quants. That's up $2000 from last year.

I'm getting more and more excited about this place.

Hi guys! I'm super excited to be part of the Class of 2019 at Yale SOM! (Of course, I'm still waiting for the Re Vera check before it becomes "official".) I'd love to have connected with all of you over Welcome Weekend, but unfortunately I can't make it. I'm sure I can make up for all the fun I missed out on during Orientation!

Current Class of 2018-er here! MBB recruiting was very, very strong this year. As our we move up in the rankings and are becoming known for having smart, creative students from diverse industries, MBB are starting to increase their quotas from SOM. We also have a very strong Consulting Club community here that trains in case interviewing. I wouldn't be concerned at all about Yale's performance with MBB. Let me know if you have additional questions!

Re Vera takes an annoyingly long time. My roommate who was admitted R3 (May 20th) didn't have his Re Vera complete until the day before orientation started (no joke). I wouldn't worry too much about Re Vera unless you have a glaring lie in your application (like you lied about where you worked or your GPA). Try not to stress too much about this! They actually ended up reaching out to me personally to get my W-2 and transcripts, etc because they weren't able to get ahold of this information on their own.

Are all the R2 admits still out celebrating? I got the call yesterday and am almost certain will matriculate. Wanted to thank the folks here (esp @aerien) for the info/support throughout the application process. Hope to see everyone at Welcome Week next month!

How does Yale's IB placement compare with M7 schools? Is it also strengthening like the MBB recruiting? Can current students share insights, please?

I think placement number is indicative of admitted student strength rather than the school's level of prestige or ability to "place" students into companies. At the end of the day, it's all about your resume, profile, and ability to network and interview. Most importantly, it's about your hustle.

I have doubts that Yale is a feeder school for a company like KKR, yet someone got an offer from them this year. That person got in because s/he is highly qualified and smart.

Most of the folks genuinely interested in banking got an offer. Being two hours away from NYC helps quite a bit.

With that said, I believe interest in banking is down while consulting and tech is growing. We have more than 20 people going to McKinsey alone this year, whereas there's probably around 5 people going to Goldman and Morgan Stanley.

Take my learning team for example - 3/8 recruited for consulting, 1/8 recruited for banking, 2/8 recruited for tech, 2/8 went for other industries. It's a small sample, but also roughly what the split looks like now.
