I do not find any of the answer correct here. Option "B" seems to be tempting but fall victim to the analogy with the freelance writer.

There is a subtle difference between a freelance writer and a worker. A freelance get more work based on the quality of piece he/she is producing, and may not survive if the piece he/she produce is not of high quality. However, situation of a worker is different. Even if they do not produce a high quality work they might not have to fight for their survival and hence might not be motivated to produce high quality work. But yes, if the workers are rewarded for the work they produce they may be motivated to produce high quality work.

Here, in the above premise I do not find all the dots are linking to produce a meaningful conclusion.

A, B and E are all seemingly correct. Would really appreciate an expert looking into this.

natp7, well B is the right answer so I can try to explain options A and E.

Option A - The strictness of the evaluation isn't mentioned anywhere.
Option E - We don't know anything about the quality of such workers. Maybe, their work sucks? Who knows.

If this doesn't help, let me know why you think option A and E are correct and we can discuss this further.

I chose D, because I thought I could take "most workers" as " all workers".
Also, Can D be wrong for being extreme as it uses the word "only"?

­(D) is wrong, as you said, because of the word "most". This implies that SOME workers DO have every item they produce judged for quality. So it isn't true that ONLY freelance writers face that level of scrutiny.

So, yes, in this particularly case, the "only" makes (D) incorrect. But that certainly does not imply that you should eliminate answers choices just because they contain "extreme language" -- sometimes the extreme language is exactly what's needed.

Notice that "most workers do not," does not mean "only freelance writers do." 

After all, "most workers do not," does not mean "all workers other than freelance writers do not." "Most workers do not" allows it to be the case that multiple types of workers do.

For example, "most workers do not," could mean "workers other than, freelance writers and ten other types of workers do not." In that case, freelance writers would not be the only ones that have every item they produce evaluated for quality. Ten other types of workers would also.

So, (D) is not supported.

Now, let's consider (B).

(B) By having every piece of their work evaluated, some workers are caused to produce high quality work.

The passage says, "each piece a freelance writer authors is evaluated. That is why freelance writers produce such high quality work."

We see that the passage indicates that having every piece of their work evaluated causes freelance writers to produce high quality work.

Freelance writers are "some workers."

Thus, the passage indeed indicates that, "By having every piece of their work evaluated, some workers are caused to produce high quality work."

So, (B) works.
