sveniga4 - I mean they only want to take people who they are sure will accept fuqua - meaning if they have an application of someone with an absolutely perfect profile (780 GMAT, 4.0 GPA, relevant work ex etc. etc.) , they assume that fuqua is a back up for the guy and he may switch to other better schools and hence may be more willing to accept someone with a 730 who has a profile more relevant to fuqua culture. coz they don't want to waste the seat by giving it to someone who may reject it later.
Fuqua does not play the yield management game. We accept the best candidates and win them over with our culture. If someone is willing to spend the time to apply for the school, write kick butt essays, rock the interview, they are probably interested in the school. If someone with "good" stats just drop an application without putting effort into the rest of the application, they'll probably get dinged. Fuqua is about admitting humble candidates who will put their best foot forward on everything they do. Quite a few of my classmates turned down ultra-elite admittances (H/S/W) for Fuqua.
Thanks for your comment.. It gives hope and confidence, as I have put in sincere effort into Duke Application because of my love for Duke and its culture.
