Wow, EXACTLY the same thing happened to me. Got a buzz saying someone had posted in this thread, checked and it was interview invites. Immediately checked my gmail 'promotions' tab and BOOM there it is! My first interview invite.

Will be emailing them requesting a hub interview.

Can't believe how quick this is. I am still working on my last application!

NO it does not mean rejection. They send invites all throughout the round. It just means you're not in the first wave.

So I'm wondering if on the "application proof" your commitment essay should be shown... Mine doesn't.. does this mean I uploaded it incorrectly?

Mine doesn't show either. You uploaded it correctly. You wouldn't have been able to submit unless it was uploaded correctly.

Others can speak to this much more thoroughly than I can, but I believe they are sent in waves that come every week or so at the beginning and then more frequently throughout October/early November. My understanding is that by the last few weeks the invites can be almost daily. The bulk of them come in October, I think, so definitely no need to panic yet if you didn't get one today.

(Someone else please correct me if I'm wrong!)

If I submitted my app pretty early (Sept 4) and then videos on Sept 9 and did not receive an invitation... Is all hope lost?

I don't think so. Actually more I don't hope so.
I submitted on 20th Aug and completed video questions on 3rd Sept.
