Hi Raghuram (@ramer479),

Good to hear that you are aiming for Round 1. The interview is not going to be a stress one at all.Few suggestions from my end:
1. Be thorough with your CV, achievements and whatever you have mentioned in the application form.
2. Be confident with a pleasant attitude. Soft skills and presentation will also matter.
3. If you do not know the answer to the asked question, gently say that you do not know the answer but you can try to answer it with your approach.
4. In the essay section, you will have to mention your USPs and relate you skills/achievements to "how you can make Great Lakes a better place- both from an individual perspective as well as an institutional perspective" ( Tip- always try to relate your personal achievements with your career and vice-versa. That will show that you learn things from your personal life and implement those learning in your professional life, & vice-versa)

Hope the above points help you to prepare in a better manner.

All the best !

Dear All,

An update regarding the PGPM 2018-19 application form-

An Essay section has been added in the application form which is mandatory to be filled. So completing the application form might take a bit longer time as compared to how it was last year.

I would suggest you to start filling in your application form a bit early in order to avoid any last minute hassle. Here is the link to start you application now https://bit.ly/pm18app

Hi Jibs,
I have a general query to help me make a decision if I should apply in R1 or R2? I am taking my GMAT on 28th Nov. I read in the FAQs on the Great lakes website that we can apply with unofficial score report [the one received after the test at the center]. However we need to have the official score report available during the R1 interview [in case called]. Is that correct? In case I do plan to apply , just wanted to clarify if R2 suits better or R1 considering taking the test very close to the last date to apply for R1.

Hi Jibs,

I read your replies to some queries so thought of asking mine.

I have total experience of 4 years in TCS. I am working in engineering services unit. My technology is Industrial automation (PLC & SCADA).

Among those 4 years, I was in UK at client location (onsite) for 1 year.

Below are my scores-
GMAT score: 570
Engineering avg: 66%
12th: 82%
10th: 91%

Can you please suggest if I have chances of getting call for PI?
I understand the GMAT score is low, would you recommend waiting for PI call or reappearing for GMAT?

Dear parvatzar,

Apologies for late reply. Was on sick leave.

You can totally apply in R1. If you are shortlisted for the interview, just take a scanned copy of the unofficial score report, and during the interview you can mention that you will email the original score once received.

There wont be much of a difference if you apply for R1 or R2 except for the fact that you will get the results of R1 interviews in december and results of R2 interviews in February :)

Dear pushkarkothekar,

Apologies for late reply. I was on sick leave.

You have a good profile. The chances of getting shortlisted with 570 score might be on the lower side, but you can take a chance.
I would suggest you to reappear for GMAT so that you can be at a safe score of 600+.
The cycle 2 deadline is 24th January. So in case if you don't get shortlisted in Cycle 1, you can always apply with a better score in cycle 2.

Overall profile looks good except the GMAT score.
Since its Round 1 and you have nice work exp, I think there are chances that you'll get a call.

And you are a analyst. As Great Lakes is famous for business analytics, your chances of getting through increase.

Thanks,

Dear Himanshu1502,

Your profile looks good to me and you also have a decent 600+ GMAT score. Apart from your academics and profile, the final shortlisting will also take into account your written essays in the application form. You have a decent chance of getting shortlisted though, but then the final call will be taken after assessing your whole application form.
All the best :)

Dear Pravish21,

Your profile is good. Your score is closer to the safe score of 600+.
600+ is a safer score, but then you would still have decent chance of getting shortlisted, provided your essay and other relevant details (mentioned in the application form) are impressive.

All the best.

Hi Jibbi,
I have a few questions. I have today submitted my application for the Great Lakes PGPM.
Profile: 2.5 years work ex as Design Engineer for a Construction Company and 6 months of Experience Scaling up a Startup NGO
GMAT: 720

1. In Mumbai, the Interview dates are on 10th December. So by when should I expect an invite for the interview?
2. Is there a GD for PGPM applicants? As nothing has been mentioned about a GD on the Admission Process tab, but the mail I received after submitting my application mentioned "On shortlisting you will hear from us on the GD/PI process". So I was a bit confused.

Dear SMD0907,

1. The Interview calls would be out on or before 3rd December. In case if you want to get your interview date/location changed (out of the available options) you can let me know.
2. There won't be any GD or any further shortlisting once you receive an interview call. There will be 2 rounds- Analytical written assessment/ essay and PI.

All the best!

Thanks Jibs,
Also since you have had the experience of the program, I would like to know if the PGPM is suited for someone who is trying to change their Career Trajectory. Say from Design Engineering to Operations/Supply Chain Management. I have read a lot of posts online mentioning that this may not be the most ideal program for a career shift in terms of Placement.
Also would you happen to have a Function-Wise division of placement statistics, specifically Major Recruiters and average salary per function, similar to how it was done for the 2013 and 2014 batch?
