Hi Experts,
I wanted your help with GMAT Quant. I've given the GMAT before and I scored a Q47 but I feel that I got lucky with that score. I'm retaking the GMAT in 20 days but I still don't feel confident enough. I've finished the OG twice and I've also done the Math Revolution course but I still feel under-confident. I took GMAT Club tests and figured out that I'm fine with 500 level questions(though sometimes I get them wrong as well) and I'm average in 600 level questions and for 700 I'm below average. I need a score of at least Q50. Can you help me? Can you suggest me some strategies? Thank you!

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) How did you score on the Official GMAT (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
6) How do you know you "need" a Q50+?
7) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
8) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Thank you for your reply.
Here are the answers to your questions:
1) My first attempt was on 29th August and I had been studying for about 2 months when I gave the exam. After that I didn't study much but resumed my preparation from mid October (from scratch).
2) I used OG and some of my high school books for Quant. This time around I also subscribed to the Math Revolution course. But that didn't seem to help.
3) My scores for Math have been all over the place. I haven't given any CATs as of yet but I've given practice tests and I've mostly gotten a Q45-47. (except the GMAT Club one where I scored about Q42). My Verbal score in the first GMAT was V34 but I've changed my methodology for that and I also purchased the e-gmat course and I'm studying from there. I've completed OG twice for Verbal and will try the questions once more.
4)The official score was 650 with Q47 and V34, IR3 and AWA6.
5) My overall goal score is at least 730+.
6) I don't have a Quant background. I'm an English literature student and therefore I need to show my competence in Quant and that's why I know I need a score of at least Q50.
7) I'm targeting the second round. So for fall 2018. My GMAT is in 20 days.
8) I'm still an undergraduate so I'm targeting schools which offer direct admissions or deferred admissions. Like Yale, Rice, Duke University, Harvard, etc. These are the only colleges that offer admissions to undergraduates.

Hi AmritaA,

At this point, we really need an assessment of your current GMAT Skills. As such, I strongly recommend that you take one of the Official GMAT CATs and take it in a realistic fashion (take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, take it away from your home, at the same time of day as when you'll take the Official GMAT, etc.). Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can discuss how best to proceed.
