GMAT 750 (Q48,V46)
GPA 3.9 (Econ, Business) from a regional lib-arts college
Work exp: co-ap at a well known economic research think-tank, research assistant/intern for couple economic publications

Problem: during college I've taken only Calc I and Stats

I am thinking about taking Calc2 and Linear Algebra this semester (i can still enroll).

Target schools: Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Warwick, Vanderbilt, Imperial

What are my chances? Is 48 Q good enough, given the high overall Gmat score, or should i take GRE?

I think your GMAT score is evidence that you can handle quant. If your experience is strong, then you are sure to get into the top finance schools - Imperial, Cambridge or LSE.

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could analyze what types of MSF schools I could get into?

Profile:

GPA - 3.52 (graduated cum laude) B.S. Biomedical Engineering - Drexel University.
GMAT - should be around 700-750
Work Experience - 1.5 years intern work with reputable biomedical engineering companies.

I am looking to get a Master's in Finance for a career change. MIT is my first choice (am I dreaming?). JHU would be my 2nd.

Also, does anyone know anything about how reputable Villanova's program is?

Pending your GMAT scores hold up. One thing about MF's is that they are more stats intense than MBAs when it comes to admission. Look at Oxford for example, its average GMAT for its MF blows its MBA pool out of the water.

Hey North Quebec was that response to me? If so, thanks for the reply. I am still a little bit confused... You said "pending your GMAT score holds up"... are you saying if I get a GMAT score in this range I could be a good candidate? Also, any opinions on Villanova? I would like to know if the program is reputable and what my chances of getting accepted would be. I live 30 minutes from the campus and it looks like a good MSF program. I am interested in IB in NYC in the future.

yeah a GMAT in that range would make you competitive, however I would say more in the 720+ range.

As for Villa, I really do not have much info on this. However I do want to impute that finance is a very brand driven business, we know that from the MBA level, and I think its even more true for the MF/MSF/MSc Fin level. Recruiters like to students from big name schools.
